Direct-drive servo motors
If a drive can work without need of a conventional gear, wear and tear can be reduced. Furthermore, precision can be increased.
This becomes obvious with regard to gear backlash, for example: Compared to gear motors having between one and two angular minutes, an NSTM motor has about five angular seconds (depending on the sensor system).
To achieve this increase in precision, NSTM motors are equipped with either angular ball bearings or taper roller bearings, depending on the mechanical strain the motors are subjected to. The motors then can be mounted directly into the machine, or they can be designed as a machine component from the outset, tailor-made to your specific requirements.
